The “Derwent Mail”

Access via the platform is through the original double doors to the open-plan lounge and kitchen / diner with beautiful views across fields. Though slightly smaller overall than the Derwent Flyer, the arrangement is more social - allowing whoever is in the kitchen to converse with those relaxing or watching the digital TV/DVD in the lounge.

The original parcel shelves have been restored and are available for luggage storage.

Sleeping accommodation comprises a master double bedroom, plus small bedroom with built-in bunk units. The shower-room (wet room) and toilet is situated adjacent to the bedrooms.

The “Derwent Flyer”

The living accommodation comprises a spacious, modern, fully fitted kitchen leading to the lounge with TV / DVD and separate dining room.

Sleeping accommodation comprises a children’s bedroom, with bunk beds, and master double bedroom. The shower-room and toilet are situated adjacent to the bedrooms.

The original parcel shelves have been restored and are available for luggage storage.

Additional sleeping accommodation can be arranged in the lounge area using two 4’ futon sofa beds.

The Station Building as it stands today - fully restored

The décor of both self-catering units is contemporary and well appointed throughout. Views from the platform and from both lounges are across open countryside. The Platform areas are available for barbecues and offer complete privacy.

All living areas and bedrooms are air conditioned and centrally heated.

You will be presented with a complimentary welcome hamper on arrival.

Skipwith Station, once on the Derwent Valley Light Railway

(the “Blackberry Line”), lies in the heart of rural Yorkshire.

David, Lizanne and family offer two elegant, stylish self-catering apartments in two refitted railway carriages in the grounds of the original station.

A short drive to the South of York, the carriages are next to Skipwith Common - a designated Special Area of Conservation - comprising 300 hectares of unspoiled heathland; one of the few remaining such areas in the UK.

Surrounded by Yorkshire countryside, our holiday lets are in a perfect place to enjoy rambling, horse riding (we have DIY livery available - why not bring your horse on holiday?), bird watching and other country pursuits, while being centrally placed for many attractions and sights.
